What’s On My Face – Volume 42

Another roundup! You’ll notice these sets of look go from bright and vibrant eye makeup to darker plums and red pretty quickly. It wasn’t done intentionally, but you can definitely see fall creeping into my looks slowly!

201509_womf41_look1.1

I had received the NARS Rated R duo in a swap a while ago and wanted to try it out. So I wore it out to brunch!

  2. NARS Rated R – green side all over the lid.
  3. NARS Rated R – blue side on the outer half of the lid.
  4. Too Faced White Chocolate on the brow bone.

I created the wing with MAC‘s Blacktrack fluidline and applied Urban Decay‘s Perversion mascara to my lashes.

I *loved* this one. I wore it to my cousin’s engagement party and fell in love with the final look so much that I’ve now used it everywhere for my social media profile shot. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Ohhh yes. So much yes to this one.  I was playing around with my Makeup Geek shadows and loved how this gold worked out with that darker rusty red. You can ever go wrong with MUG‘s Bitten!

201509_womf41_look4.2

  1. Makeup Geek Fortune Teller all over the lid.

  4. Makeup Geek Vanilla Bean on the brow bone.

I coated my lashes with Urban Decay‘s Perversion mascara.

I can tell the outdoor natural lighting is starting to get fucked up in my pictures – definitely going to be investing in some studio lighting this fall and winter that’s for sure. I wanted to play more with my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palettes – I love them, but I feel like I’m always reaching for the newest thing that’s been released. However, I still very, very much love these palettes.

What’s On My Face – Volume 41

While this set of looks doesn’t top Volume 40 for epic-ness (seriously – I’m way proud of some of the looks in Volume 40), there’s still some really, really pretty ones in here.

Enjoy!

201508_womf41_look2.1

I can’t even rember why I was so done up for this look to be honest. I must’ve been doing SOMETHING important to warrant false lashes…

201508_womf41_look2.2

Eyes

  1. MAC Cork through the top of the crease.
  2. Inglot AMC Shine 28 all over the lid and inner tearduct.
  3. Inglot Matte 325 on the outer half of the lid and to line the lower lash line.
  4. Urban Decay Blackout in the outer corner.
  5. Wet n Wild Brulee on the brow bone.

I created the wing with the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper and tightlined my water lines with Marc Jacobs‘ Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer. On my lashes is CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher mascara with a pair of Houses of Lashes Bombshell falsies on top.

Rest of the Face

  • Blush: Milani Tea Rose
  • Highlighter: MAC Silver Dusk
  • Lips: Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial

201508_womf41_look4.1

This look (without the glitter) has been a constant favourite of mine over the years. It’s one I know I can resort to if I want to look like my eyes are on fire and don’t have to think about the eyeshadow combination. Kind of a failsafe, you know? I wore this to the VIB Rouge event at the Eaton Centre in Toronto (thank you for the invite Julie!) and had to add on some glitter just for fun. Except I love it so much with the glitter that now it’s REQUIRED for this look…

201508_womf41_look4.2

Eyes

  1. MAC Gleam all over the lid.
  2. MAC Coppering on the outer half of the lid and through the crease.
  3. MAC Handwritten to deepen the outer corner.
  4. MAC Blanc Type on the brow bone.

I applied some Too Faced Glitter Glue all along my lower lash line, then patted on MAC‘s Reflect Copper glitter (THIS STUFF IS INSANE). On my lashes is Urban Decay‘s Perversion mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Bronzer: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil
  • Blush: MAC Ripe Peach
  • Highlighter: Becca Champagne Pop
  • Lips: Revlon Lipstain + Balm in Flame

201508_womf41_look1.1

This one is fairly “old” since it’s been sitting on my harddrive since June. I think I was trying to figure out how to balance coloured eyeshadow with bright lips. I actually think this works… but I’m not sure if I’m trying to convince myself of that, you know?

201508_womf41_look1.2

Eyes

  1. Makeup Geek Fantasy all over the lid.
  2. Makeup Geek Dirty Martini on the outer half of the lid.
  3. Makeup Geek Vanilla Bean on the brow bone.
  4. Makeup Geek Daydreamer on the inner corner.

I lined my lower lash line with Makeup Geek‘s Masquerade eyeshadow and created the wing with MAC‘s Blacktrack fluidline. On my lashes is Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: essence Life’s a Cherry
  • Highlighter: MAC Soft & Gentle
  • Lips: Too Faced Melted Rainbow

With all the hype surrounding the upcoming holiday palettes by Too Faced, I just had to whip out some of my older holiday palettes by them. I love their holidays palettes so much!

201508_womf41_look5.2

Eyes
(all Too Faced shadows from the Everything Nice palette)

  1. Shiny Happy on the lid.
  2. Secret Lovers on the outer half of the lid.
  3. Be You through the crease.
  4. Kindess is Free barely tapped on the outer corner of the crease.
  5. Dream On on the brow bone.

And last up is a look I wasn’t sure how to do when I first looked at the quad. This utilizes The Body Shop‘s Pink Poppy shimmer cubes which have a very vibrant hot pink, an orange, a somewhat timid lime green and a silver. That’s one hell of a combination!

201508_womf41_look3.2

Eyes
(using The Body Shop shimmer cubes in Pink Poppy)

  1. Orange shade all over the lid.
  2. Too Faced Cherry Cordial to deepen up the crease (had to use something else because the look would’ve had no dimension).
  3. Hot Pink shade through the crease.

I lined the lower lash line with the Green and Silver shades from the shimmer cube quad, then applied CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher mascara to my lashes

Rest of the Face

  • Bronzer: MAC Refined Golden
  • Blush: Hard Candy Skinny Dipping
  • Highlighter: Becca Champagne Pop

What’s On My Face – Volume 40

In my (not so humble) opinion, there’s some pretty epic makeup looks in this post. Either I love how my makeup turned out, or I love how the shots came out. I hope you like them too!

201508_womf40_look2-2

Let’s start this off with what I feel is probably my best makeup look accomplished to date. (So I’m going to post a few extra shots of it because I’m really pleased with how this turned out.)

201508_womf40_look2-1

We were going to the pub to watch the Womens’ World Cup final (USA versus Japan), and since my husband is American, I defaulted to supporting the USA. It was so close to the Fourth of July too, so this could’ve doubled as an Independence Day theme as well.

201508_womf40_look2-3

I don’t always post huge eye shots because I typically take photos of my makeup before work and don’t have the time to perfect everything. Smaller photos hide some mistakes so I have less to worry about. But when I do guest posts, or feature products specifically, I like to make sure that I get as close to a perfect makeup look as I’m physically capable of (since I don’t airbrush my photos). But this one, despite being done in a relative rush, was done soooo well that I just had to post a full-sized shot!

201508_womf40_look2-4

And here’s what I used:

201508_womf40_look2-5

Eyes

  1. MAC Cork through the top of the crease.
  2. MAC Crystal Avalanche all over the lid.
  3. Urban Decay Heroine on the outer half of the lid.
  4. MAC Blanc Type on the brow bone.

I then patted MAC‘s Transparent Blue Glitter on top of the whole lid using Too Faced‘s Glitter Glue to make sure it stayed in place. I then used MAC‘s Strike While Haute shadow all along the bottom lash line, and applied MAC Reflect Red glitter overtop (again with the Glitter Glue).

The winged liner was done with Kat Von D‘s Tattoo Liner in Trooper and I lined my lower water line with Marc JacobsBlacquer. I applied a coat of CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher mascara and then popped on a pair of Bombshell lashes by House of Lashes.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in shade 52 Vanilla
  • Bronzer & Highlighter: Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow
  • Cheeks: Elizabeth MottTints & Sass
  • Lips: MAC Russian Red

201508_womf40_look5-1

Next up is a product I waited far, FAR too long to use. It had been sitting in my “to use” pile but I never got around to it. And as soon as I did, I wore it three times that week! That beautiful neon red? That’s Kryolan‘s UV-Red pressed shadow and it is INCREDIBLE. Since it is a neon, it does need a sticky white base to make it pop. But damn… seriously amazing.

201508_womf40_look5-2

Eyes
I first applied NYX‘s Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk to the entire lid, blended it out, then:

  1. Applied Kryolan‘s UV-Red to the entire lid of my eye and the inner tearduct.
  2. Makeup Geek‘s Corrupt was used through the outer third of the lid, through the crease and on the lower lash line.

I created the wing with Kat Von D‘s Tattoo Liner in Trooper, coated my lashes with CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher and then put on a pair of Bombshell lashes by House of Lashes. I tightlined both waterlines with Marc Jacobs‘ Blacquer.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Powder: Hourglass Ethereal Light
  • Blush: Sleek Chantilly
  • Highlighter: Becca Champagne Pop

201508_womf40_look1-1

Playing around with some Makeup Revolution foiled shadow.

201508_womf40_look1-2

Eyes

  1. Makeup Revolution‘s Emerald Goddess all over the lid.
  2. essence‘s Smokey Day Trio (dark shade) through the outer corner and crease.

On my lashes is Make Up For Ever‘s Smoky Stretch mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Bronzer: MAC Refined Golden
  • Blush: Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Poppy
  • Highlighter: MAC Soft & Gentle
  • Lips: SST Cosmetics Vitale

201508_womf40_look3-1

I swear this is such a vain post, but anyway… That shot on the left is my favourite shot of myself I think I’ve ever taken. It’s all thick lash line, fiery eyeshadow, chubby cheeks and intense steel blue eyes. AND I LOVE IT. I did this for a guest post on Vancouver Eyeshadow Addict back in May and somehow forgot to cross post it!

201508_womf40_look3-2

Eyes

  1. Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie through the top of the crease.
  2. Makeup Geek Chickadee all over the lid.
  3. Makeup Geek Poppy on the outer corner and through the crease.
  4. Makeup Geek Vanilla Bean on brow bone.
  5. Naked Cosmetics IV-04 pigment on the inner corner.

I used Poppy on the outer corner of the lower lash line and used Chickadee for the remainder of the lower lash line. I then created the wing with Kat Von D Tattoo Liner inTrooper and tightlined with Urban Decay‘s Black Velvet liner. On my lashes is essence‘s Lash Princess mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in 52 Vanilla
  • Contour: Makeup Geek Barcelona Beach eyeshadow
  • Blush: Tarte Charisma
  • Highlighter: MAC Whisper of Gilt
  • Lips: Revlon Papaya gloss

201508_womf40_look4-1

And lastly, a Makeup Geek look because I hadn’t yet played around with the new foiled shadow Pegasus.

201508_womf40_look4-2

Eyes

  1. MAC Cork
  2. Makeup Geek Pegasus
  3. Makeup Geek Duchess
  4. Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma

I created the wing with MAC‘s Blacktrack fluidline and coated my lashes with essence‘s Plump, No Clump mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Bronzer & Highlighter: Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow
  • Blush: Milani Coral Cove

What’s On My Face – Volume 37

Loads of Makeup Geek (no surprise there), MAC and some Colour Pop thrown into the mix this week!

20150513_womf37_look4-1

My absolute favourite YouTuber – Sharon Farrell – does some ridiculously stunning makeup tutorials. She often has neutral makeup, but she knows how to bust out a bright look too. I fell in love with her Desert Sunrise tutorial when she posted it in January, but never got around to trying it out. I finally did, and I loved the results!

20150513_womf37_look4-2

Eyes

  1. Makeup Geek Mesmerized through the crease.
  2. Makeup Geek Sin City on the inner third of the lid.
  3. Makeup Geek Roulette on the middle of the lid and on the middle of the lower lash line.
  4. Makeup Geek Caitlin Rose on the outer corner and on the outer half of the lower lash line. The outer corner is also darkened up a bit with Makeup Geek Corrupt.
  5. Makeup Geek Vanilla Bean on the brow bone.
  6. Inglot Matte 370 on the inner corner with L’Oreal Infallible in Goldmine on top.

I tightlined my inner lash lines with Urban Decay‘s Black Velvet liner and used the same product to line my upper lash line. I applied Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch mascara to my lashes and then added in some individual Ardell lashes.

Rest of the Face

  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: MAC Ripe Peach
  • Highlighter: Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Duo #1

20150513_womf37_look5-1

I pulled out this “traditional” look because I was headed to my cousin’s baby shower and wanted to wear something flattering (the eyeshadows) while still wearing a really bold colour on the lips.

20150513_womf37_look5-2

Eyes

  1. Makeup Geek Grandstand all over the lid.
  2. Makeup Geek Cocoa Bear on the outer corner and through the crease.
  3. Makeup Geek Vanilla Bean on the browbone.

I created the wing with Catrice‘s Dating Joe Black liner and applied Make Up For EverSmoky Stretch mascara to my lashes. I then added in some Bombshell lashes by House of Lashes (my first time wearing House of Lashes… and holy crap I’m in love!).

Rest of the Face

  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: I think it was Hourglass Diffused Heat, but I’m not positive.
  • Highlighter: MAC Soft & Gentle
  • Lips: MAC Relentlessly Red

A quick re-post for posterity… I did this pastel rainbow look for Workaday Ramblings for April’s guest post.

201504_guestpost_chelle5

Eyes

  1. Too Faced Milk Chocolate through the crease.
  2. MAC Sushi Flower on the inner corner of the lid.
  3. Inglot Matte 334.
  4. MAC Fade.
  5. Sleek Cricket on the outer corner.
  6. MAC Dazzlelight to highlight the brow.

I used MAC‘s Blacktrack fluidline to create the wing and then tightlined my upper waterline with Urban Decay‘s Black Velvet liner. I coated my lashes with Make Up For Ever‘s Smoky Stretch mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in 52 Vanilla
  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: essence Pinky Flow
  • Highlighter: Hard Candy Tiki
  • Lips: NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair

20150513_womf37_look2-1

Jill of Beauty Vixen was headed off to Mexico, so I helped her out with this look that was inspired by the flag of Mexico.

201504_guestpost_bv_chelle6

Eyes

  • Makeup Geek Creme Brule through the crease.
  • Makeup Geek Whites Lies on the inner half of the lid.
  • MAC Landscape Green pigment on the outer half of the lid.
  • Makeup Geek Bling on the brow bone.

I created the wing with MAC‘s Blacktrack fluidline and then tightlined my upper and lower lash lines with Urban Decay‘s Black Velvet liner. On my lower lash line I applied MAC‘sStrike While Haute eyeshadow and blended it out the edges with Makeup Geek‘s Creme Brule. On my lashes is Make Up For Ever‘s Smoky Stretch mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in shade 52 Vanilla
  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: essence Life’s a Cherry
  • Highlighter: MAC Whisper of Gilt
  • Lips: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella

20150513_womf37_look3-1

Stop the presses! I have been after a neon red eyeshadow for a very long time. A lot of shadows have come close, but have never really quite hit the mark. Then came alongColour Pop‘s Erotic, and suddenly my search is over! Technically it’s a pressed pigment, but that’s never scared me away from using a product on my eyes. Erotic is incredible – it’s a neon red that has tiny specs of orange and pink glitter.

Eyes

So the eye look is easy on this one – the only shadow I’m wearing is Colour Pop‘s Erotic! I then created the wing with Kat Von D‘s Tattoo Liner in Trooper and lined my inner rim withUrban Decay‘s Black Velvet liner. On my lashes is Make Up For Ever‘s Smoky Stretch.

Rest of the Face

  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: MAC Warm Soul with Milani‘s Coral Cove on top
  • Highlighter: MAC Whisper of Gilt

What I Bought This Month – April 2015 Haul

Oh god. My wallet. It hurts.

I knew this was going to be not only a super exciting month, but also a seriously spendy month. Not only was I in the US for a week, but there was also the Sephora VIB sale AND Makeup Geek was launching ten brand new foiled shadows (which, although I’ve ordered them, they won’t be here in time for this month’s haul, so you’ll see them all next month).

Buckle in. This is a long one.

Colour Pop Super Shock Shadows in Heat, Sunnies, Juicer, Animal, Erotic, Drift and Bae ($5 USD each)
Colour Pop Super Shock Shadows in Heat, Sunnies, Juicer, Animal, Erotic, Drift and Bae ($5 USD each)

First up was Colour Pop. I asked my parents-in-law (who reside in Wisconsin) if they would mind receiving a makeup order and then bring it to Florida where we would be vacationing with them mid-month. They consented, and this saved me a huge amount in shipping (it was free, versus the $40 I would’ve had to pay to ship it to Canada!). I opted for a lot of bright, warm shades since that’s just my “thing”.

Colour Pop Rebound quad: One & Done, Too Soon, Ex, Adios ($20 USD)
Colour Pop Rebound quad: One & Done, Too Soon, Ex, Adios ($20 USD)

I also snagged the Colour Pop Rebound quad because the shades just looked gorgeous and they had some neutrals which I hadn’t really added to my order yet. Too Soon is likeToo Faced‘s Pink Sugar (from the Semi-Sweet palette) but far more pigmented.

Aveeno Positivel Radiant Daily Moisturizer ($15 USD)
Aveeno Positivel Radiant Daily Moisturizer ($15 USD)

Unfortunately, once I got to Florida I realized that I had completely forgotten my moisturizer. I snagged Aveeno‘s Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with sunscreen at Publix because I always default to Aveeno if I can purchase it!

Vaseline Spray & Go in Cocoa Radiant (~$8 USD)
Vaseline Spray & Go in Cocoa Radiant (~$8 USD)

Another necessity out in Florida. I hadn’t packed any kind of body moisturizer and I knew I was going to need something to soothe my skin after being out in the sun for so many hours a day. I’m not a huge fan of aloe vera scented anything, so I picked up the Vaseline Spray & Go Cocoa Radiant because I’m already a huge fan of the scent, but I’ve also been wanting to try this spray stuff out. And frankly, I think it’s amazing. Super handy for vacation and light enough to not cause you to stick to everything.

Neutrogena MoistureSmooth in Papaya ($4.75 USD)
Neutrogena MoistureSmooth in Papaya ($4.75 USD)

I’m not a huge fan of these chubby style lip products, but I’ve heard EmilyNoel83 rave about these for years so I figured I should at least try one out.  It’s… okay. It has a very (bear with me on this one) 80s plastic doll smell. If you grew up in the 80s and ever had My Little Ponies that also came with some kind of weird perfume, that’s what this smells like. It’s kind of a plastic vanilla with a fruity-twist scent. Very weird.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in Buff ($15.49 USD)
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in Buff ($15.49 USD)

Another a “YouTuber made me buy it” situation. I’ve seen Amarixe wearing this over the last several years and since Neutrogena makeup isn’t available in Canada, I picked this up at Walgreens in Panama City as soon as I saw it.

Milani Eyeshadow Primer ($6.79 USD)
Milani Eyeshadow Primer ($6.79 USD)

Another brand I don’t have easy access to in Ontario! Walgreens had a small-ish display of Milani stuff, but enough items for me to pick through. I picked up their eyeshadow primer because neither my Urban Decay nor my NARS (alone) can seem to prevent my shadows from creasing anymore. I’ve used this three times and so far so good! I’ll have to use it more heavily to see just how long it holds up.

Milani Bella eyeshadows in Taupe, Navy, Rouge and Copper ($4.59 USD each)
Milani Bella eyeshadows in Taupe, Navy, Rouge and Copper ($4.59 USD each)

I had to really restrain myself with the Milani Bella eyeshadows. In the end, I picked a really weird random assortment of them. I’m fairly certain the grey one is Taupe, then Navy (I don’t know why I keep buying blue eyeshadows… I don’t think I even wear them that often), Rouge (because hello – red. Except it’s not red, it’s… magenta) and Copper.

Milani blush in Coral Cove ($6.97 USD)
Milani blush in Coral Cove ($6.97 USD)

One of the first things that was on my list of things to buy in the US was this Milani blush in Coral Cove. I mean, how was I going to say no to that? A beautiful coral shade pressed into the shape of a rose – stunning! Even more astounding is that this blush contains something ridiculous like 8 or 9 grams of product. That’s ENORMOUS!

NYX Tame & Frame in Blonde ($6.99 USD)
NYX Tame & Frame in Blonde ($6.99 USD)

We popped into Ulta at Pier Park in Panama City Beach, and while I was unimpressed with some of their brand selections (no Becca, no Lorac, barely any Ulta-exclusive kits), what I was happy with was their NYX display seemed to be relatively well stocked. NYX has been replicating a lot of Anastasia products lately, and I want to see how they compare. I snatched up the Tame & Frame in Blonde which looks gloriously grey. I hope it’s a good match for my brows – the grey looks better than the “pea soup” colour that usually gets assigned to blondes.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe ($9.99 USD)
NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe ($9.99 USD)

Another very similar item… NYX‘s Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe looks like the right tone for my brows. I’m eager to see how it compares to its Brow Wiz counterpart. The packaging is absolutely identical!

IT Cosmetics CC Cream in Fair ($38 USD)
IT Cosmetics CC Cream in Fair ($38 USD)

I’ve seen a lot of YouTubers go on about the IT Cosmetics CC Cream (in particular, Vintage or Tacky) so I grabbed Fair since it was the closest to my skin tone. I think it’s a hair TOO light, but the Light shade was so dang dark that there’s no way I could carry it off without a tan.

However, then the Shopping Channel had a $50 rebate for new customers, so I signed up for that and picked up the IT Cosmetics CC Cream in Light as well. Hilariously, the going price for the Canadian version was also $38, although in Canadian dollars. This makes the Canadian version a much better buy since the exchange rate is just flat out balls right now. Light is way too dark for me right now, but I think it’ll fare well in the summer months.

Sonia Kashuk Eye On Neutral 02 Palette (~$5 CAD)
Sonia Kashuk Eye On Neutral 02 Palette (~$5 CAD)

With Target leaving Canada, we had a few opportunities to go dumpster diving at insane prices. I didn’t manage to find this one myself, but Julie snatched it up at a Target that still had a lot of remaining stock. The Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral 02 palette was one I had always wanted to purchase, but couldn’t really justify spending $20 on it. Imagine my surprise and pleasure when the clearance price was something just shy of five bucks! Huzzah!

Garnier Smooth Cream Cleanser
Garnier Smooth Cream Cleanser

Dear Shawna got us into the L’Oreal warehouse sale (this girl knows how to warehouse sales right), and while I didn’t really pick up many items, I did grab a few. First up was the Garnier Smoothing Cream Cleanser because I’m always interested in different face washes. I don’t have sensitive skin, so I’m pretty much free to try out whatever I want!

Garnier Nourishing Cleansing Oil
Garnier Nourishing Cleansing Oil

Also of interest to me at the warehouse sale was this Nourishing Cleansing Oil, also by Garnier. Aside from makeup removers, I’ve never really used anything oil based on my face so I’m curious to see how this plays out.

Maybelline Mega Plush mascara in Emerald Velvet ($2 CAD)
Maybelline Mega Plush mascara in Emerald Velvet ($2 CAD)

This thing. This thing is gross. Maybelline‘s Mega Plush mascara in Emerald Velvet just looked nasty on my lashes. I didn’t like the wand, I didn’t like the colour and I didn’t how it looked on me. I used it once and then threw it out. At least it was only two bucks!

MAC Strike While Haute ($10 CAD)
MAC Strike While Haute ($10 CAD)

You know you have good friends when they can pick you up an eyeshadow and know you’ll love it. Once again Julie pulled through and picked me up MAC‘s Strike While Haute which came out with the Red, Red, Red collection last year. I’ve only used it once, but it’s bright red and matte, and therefore I love it.

Urban Decay Electric palette ($20 CAD)
Urban Decay Electric palette ($20 CAD)

As beauty bloggers are apt to do, we buy products that we use once and then decide just aren’t for us. I already had the Urban Decay Electric palette in my cart for the Sephora VIB sale, but when Julie found out I was going to buy a new one, she offered up hers to me for $20. I was elated! It’s in near new condition and she was generous to offer it up for such a great price!

Frankly, I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to buy it. Those shades are right up my alley!

Wet n Wild palettes in Embrace Obscurity and California Roll ($4.99 CAD each)
Wet n Wild palettes in Embrace Obscurity and California Roll ($4.99 CAD each)

A new launch from Wet n Wild saw the release of these pretty palettes. I’ve had a bastard of a time finding these in stores (they’re at Rexalls in Ontario), but… okay it feels like this entire post is about how Julie is my makeup supplier… she once again tracked these down like a bloodhoud for me. California Roll is my favourite so far – you cancheck out swatches for it here.

Too Faced Sugar Pop palette ($38.25 CAD sale price)
Too Faced Sugar Pop palette ($38.25 CAD sale price)

Alright… we’re getting down to the end, I promise… Sephora’s VIB Sale was also this month, which meant… I saved money right? Uh sure. Sure I did…

After watching a few tutorials on the Too Faced Sugar Pop palette, I dropped it into my online cart without a second thought.

There will be an upcoming Challenge Week using this palette, I just gotta get my ducks in a row since we’re moving apartments this week so everything is everywhere at the moment!

Too Faced Melted lipsticks in Strawberry and Coral ($21.25 CAD each – sale price)
Too Faced Melted lipsticks in Strawberry and Coral ($21.25 CAD each – sale price)

Sephora’s sale is also a great time for me to add more Too Faced Melted lipsticks to my collection (I really do want to own them all). This time I snagged Coral (I’m long overdue on buying that one) and Strawberry. They’re both just as glorious as the other shades I own – I’m so happy to have them!

Tarte – Natural Beauty ($26.35 CAD – sale price)
Tarte – Natural Beauty ($26.35 CAD – sale price)

Do you ever feel you’ve been wanting a product for so long that, for whatever reason, you put off buying it? I don’t even know what the reasoning is for that, but that’s the case with this Tarte Natural Beauty blush. I’ve wanted to pick this up for… going on four years now? I just never got around to it. I love how red it looks in the pan, but it goes on the cheeks in that perfect “I’ve been out in the cold weather” look. Gorgeous shade.

Lavanila perfume in Vanilla Grapefruit ($59.50 CAD – sale price)
Lavanila perfume in Vanilla Grapefruit ($59.50 CAD – sale price)

I completely ran out of my bottle of this stuff, so I had to buy another. Lavanila‘s Vanilla Grapefruit is one of those scents I just feel I could drink in day after day. I’m pretty sure I overdo it when I apply this to myself, but my god do I ever love the scent!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper ($19.55 CAD – sale price)
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper ($19.55 CAD – sale price)

Another replacement item. Kat Von D‘s Tattoo Liner in Trooper is almost my perfect liner, but not quite. It’s certainly the easiest to use – since it’s a pen style liner with a brush tip, this makes it perfect. What takes away from that perfectness is the fact that it’s not QUITE matte enough. It has a very slight sheen to it which has a tendency to pick up shimmery shadow from my lid and dull the colour of the liner. But that brush tip though… more companies need to get on this bandwagon. Felt tips just can’t compare.

House of Lashes
House of Lashes

I placed this order at the very end of March and couldn’t believe how long it took to get to Toronto. (Something like four weeks…) Duo lash glue just hasn’t been cutting it for me lately so I decided to go with the much raved about House of Lashes. Since I was already placing an order for the lash glue, I grabbed two pairs of falsies as well. Noir Fair($14), Bombshell ($7) and the lash glue ($8).

Illamasqua Liquid Metal Palette

Another freebie from Julie. I haven’t had much luck with Illamasqua‘s shadows in this format, but I’ll give it a shot and see how it goes.

Sonia Kashuk Brush Set

And a bunch of free Sonia Kashuk brushes because… why not. (and oh hey, another one from Julie)

Holy god… I’m done. No more! I hope you enjoyed my ridiculous month of purchases!

As a note, all items featured in any "What I Bought This Month" haul are products I either spent my money on, or that friends and family have given to me. They will never include items that were sent for consideration by PR.
