Swatch Sunday: Maybelline Soda Pop

Maybelline Soda Pop

I was so excited to see the Maybelline Soda Pop palette in stores at a CVS when I was on vacation in New York City last month because it was nowhere to be found in Canada! There was a sticker on the display that said “display until December 18th” (not positive on that date, but it was something like that), so I don’t think this is a permanent palette. Which is a bit of a shame, I have to say – I want to see more colour stories like this Maybelline!

This palette definitely gives me Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly vibes (which seems to have been discontinued???), but there’s a faint hint of a soda pop scent to the shadows. It’s really not that obvious, but a reader pointed it out to me and I kiiiind of smell it if I stick my nose right in there.

  1. Such a pretty palette. I hate it when companies don’t release products in Canada. It’s not like we won’t find out about it and won’t know what we’re missing. I hate it when companies release a new line of lipsticks and Canada has just six or eight of the shades. Why do they do that? Frustrating!!

    1. Yeah it’s really bizarre when that happens, but I’ve been told repeatedly that it’s completely based on market research about what each region/country is willing to buy. Honestly, I just find it infuriating!

    1. I never tried the Lemonade one, but I feel like this one has more colour variety, and it’s certainly a bit deeper than the Lemonade one. I still haven’t used it yet, but it’s because I’ve been whipping through palette reviews lately. I cannot WAIT to stick my brushes into it!

    1. I wonder if we’ll get this in the new year? I know it took forever for the Lemonade palette to show up (which was just infuriating). And I completely agree – the drugstore lacks colourful pigmented eyeshadows and I’d love to see even more like this by Maybelline.

    1. I’ve still not used it on my eyes (been working my through so many palette reviews), but I can’t wait to use it! I don’t even know if it’s available in Canada yet… I haven’t seen it in stores!

  2. I like blue raspberry! Thanks for the swatches – I was curious about the colors as I haven’t seen this on shelves here in Canada.
