Too Faced Candlelight Warm Glow (Review, Swatches + Giveaway)

Too Faced Candlelight Warm Glow

I get all kinds of stupid excited for new highlighters – even moreso when a brand expands on a highlighter that they already had in their lineup and creates more colours!

Before I get into it… I mean… hello… just LOOK at that packaging! /sigh

Too Faced has had some version of a “Candelight” powder for as long as I can remember. (To see an older version of it, click here for a favourites post from 2014!) They changed up their Candlelight powder relatively recently and made it a duo that had a light beige shade and a pink shade that could be swirled together for a lovely glow. The intent, of course, is to capture how damn stunning everyone looks by candlelight – “Advanced PHOTOLITE technology refracts light to soften and diffuse the appearance of imperfections for skin that looks more youthful, lifted, and radiant.”

With their Spring 2016 launch, Too Faced came out with a warm toned shade they appropriately named “Warm Glow“. (The other powder is called Rosy Glow – I don’t own it.)

Warm Glow has a pale cream side, and a nice warm pale peach side. And of course, to sucker us even more into loving the product – it has a beautifully embossed chandelier smack dab in the center.

Swatched out, the shades are as you would expect from a highlighter: soft, gentle and luminescent. There are no chunky particles or glitter in this powder – it’s smooth, blendable and creates a beautiful sheen.

On my face… well… it’s stunning. I’ve applied it to the tops of my cheekbones and it *really* illuminates the area!

Even closer up. You can see my pores, but that’s not something that’s ever bothered me. (Sidenote, why do people CARE so much about hiding their pores? Everyone has them!) I love the sheen of Warm Glow and how ethereal I feel when wearing it.

Final Thoughts

Too Faced‘s Candlelight Warm Glow is a freaking must have in my collection of highlighters now as I’ve been reaching for it every other day! While the shade is not especially unique (let’s be real, all highlighters are really quite similar), what is unique is that you get two shades in the single compact, giving you three separate colour options! Personally? I’ll be swirling my brush through both shades so I can get as much impact out of this beautiful product as I can! If you’re looking for a stunning highlighter, you really cannot go wrong with Warm Glow!

Too Faced Candlelight Warm Glow can be purchased on sephora.ca for $38 CAD or on sephora.com for $30 USD.

Giveaway!

I received two of the Too Faced Warm Glow powders and the brand consented to let me give away one of them to you guys!

  1. This is a must have product. Not only is the packaging spectacular but the highlighting effect has an ethereal quality that would make any woman look and feel beautiful. I would love to try Too Faced‘s Candlelight Warm Glow. Thanks Chelle for the opportunity to win!

  2. I’ve been using Colourpop’s Lunch Money, but I’m looking for a powder highlighter and was actually thinking about this!

  3. This sounds lovely- and in regard to the pores- yours aren’t bad at all! I guess I have issues with mine because they feel like craters (personal opinion I suppose) and smooth skin would be nice haha -thanks to photoshop and magazines for giving an unrealistic standard of beauty! 😉

    1. It was funny, I did a pore strip with my husband one day and when I yanked his off, I could SEE his pores and I was like OMG is THIS what people talk about? They were huge and cavernous! lol

I think we’re all a lot more judgemental of our own faces (which is a shame). Photoshop keeps blurring out pores and it’s like… but everyone has those!

  4. OH BABY! The other highlighter from Too Faced didn’t really appeal to me with the pink, but this!! Helloooooo

    1. I was SHOCKED I managed to capture it to be honest. I’ve done it with another highlighter now, and it works. My only “trick” is to stand in front of a well-lit, but shaded window and angle my face off to the side (the looking into the distance shot). So far it’s worked for this and an upcoming BECCA Pearl post. I’m like YES I’VE UNLOCKED THE PHOTOGRAPHING A HIGHLIGHTER SECRET!!!!

  5. I could never capture highlighter on my face the way you did, it looks freaking lovely on you! I was just commenting on Natalie’s blog asking if she thinks Warm Glow would suits my medium skin tone and now you’re giving away one! Entered and thank you for the opportunity. My current favourite highlighter is Champagne Gold, it’s freaking stunning.

    1. Honestly, this was the first time I managed to get it accurately! I was so pleased with how the photos came out because every other attempt over the years has been terrible!

I think this would ABSOLUTELY suit your skin tone, and if anything, it would potentially look a lot better on a medium skin because of the warmth to it. Good luck Shireen!

    1. Powder or stick? I think they have both! I tried the stick one in a white shade and it was kind of hard to apply (maybe I got a bad one?).

    1. No, this was still my Inglot gel liner. Getting it to go on was kinda annoying (even with the Duraline), but it looked okay enough for these shots! I still haven’t gone to pick up the Kryolan one yet!

  6. That is stunning! I’m going to have a baby in the next month – I’ll need all the highlighter I can get to draw the eye away from the dark cicrcles. 🙂

    1. HAH! That’s a good way of thinking about it!

And congratulations on your pregnancy! Only one month to go! Ahhhh! That must be terrifying/exciting all at once!

  7. Hmm favourite highlighter…honestly I have a few that I love and I switch them up based on what look I’m going for. Some days I go cooler (pink toned) and other days I go for golden. On Valentines day I picked up the NYX contour palette and I love the highlighters in it. They’re long lasting, easily blendable and incredibly affordable. I also picked up Watts Up and finally got around to using it today. I love the texture and glow it gives but it doesn’t seem to last very long 🙁 I also have MUFE’s pro sculpting duo and I really like that highlighter. Much more than the contour shade that came in it.

    1. Ahhhh! You’re a highlighter fiend! I love it!

I also change up my highlighter depending on my makeup so I know how hard it can be to choose a favourite!

I have a mini of the Watts Up and loove it – that stinks that it doesn’t stick around on your skin though! Boo! Also love the MUFE one you mentioned- and I definitely love the highlighting side way more than the “contour” side. Let’s be real… that’s not a contour shade!

  8. I like to use Guerlain Meteorites as a highlighter. So expensive though! This product looks great. Would love to try it. We all look so nice in candlelight.

  9. Wow! Thanks for hosting yet another amazing giveaway! I’ve been using the Gosh highlighter, but I’m not too crazy about it. The Becca is next on my list.

    1. Hi Jolie! I’ve been quite lucky to have been sent a few duplicates lately and I’m so glad the PR companies are happily letting me give the items away! The BECCA ones are also gorgeous!

      1. I’ve been eyeing the Champagne one. I guess at the end, we’re the lucky ones 🙂
        Thanks again for hosting!

  10. I love my Loreals highlighter. My new beauty favorite is my new lipstick from Clarins- I realllly love it! (I also love my boyfriend who gave it to me:D )

  11. I’ve just discovered the magic of green colour corrector to offset red marks on the skin! A godsend!

  12. My favourite highlight is my becca shimmering skin perfector in champagne pop and THEN I also love my liquid becca shimmering skin perfector in moonstone. Becca is my go-to brand for highlighting, but I’ve never tried toofaced for highlighting so things may change! I’m super loyal to toofaced when it comes to bronzer. I love their milk chocolate matte bronzer! It smells fantastic and it’s pale enough for my skin!!

    1. I loved this comment so much because I kept nodding my head to everything you said! Love BECCA for highlighters – I’ve only only tried the pressed ones in Pearl and Champagne Pop and my god… HOW DO THEY DO IT???

Totally in love with Too Faced’s bronzers as well. I mean… how do you beat a chocolate smelling bronzer? (Answer: you don’t!). Good luck Melanie!

  13. What a beautiful giveaway Thanks so much for the chance to win #TwoFacedCandelight beautiful cosmetics. Happy Weekend !!!

  14. I just love watching all your videos. Always learn so many useful techniques and you always look perfect when your finished Beautiful and Flawless. Happy Monday To You !!!

  15. I don’t have a favorite highlighter just yet but I’m on the hunt for one 🙂 And I love Too Faced!

  16. I have a few I like. The ones I usually grab for daily are Hardy Candy’s Bronzer in Tiki or Wet n Wild’s Fergie highlighter in Hollywood Blv.

    1. I loooove Hard Candy Tiki! Such a great highlighter! And somehow it always ends up at the back of my drawer – I’ll have to pull it out and use it more!

  17. The only highlighter I have ever used is Mary Kay. Not even sure if they carry it anymore. I love this one as I recently discovered Too Faced. Can’t wait to be able to get my hands on the PB&J..
