Skincare Saturday: Skincare Routine featuring Neutrogena!

This post is sponsored by iHerb.com.

There are some brands on the market that I always come back to for their staple products, and Neutrogena is definitely one of my top skincare picks that fit into that bucket. I know their products are always going to work for me and provide me with the results I need! For today’s post, I’ve teamed up with iHerb.com to give you a look at a full face routine using Neutrogena as a cornerstone for good skincare.

My first step towards prepping my skin for the day is face wash (as I would assume it is for just about everyone!). It totally depends on what I’m feeling that morning, but I’ll either opt for a gentle cleanser or for a more vigorous scrub a few times a week to slough off any dead skin from my face.

For days when I just need “the usual”, I’ll opt for Neutrogena’s Natural Purifying Facial Cleanser. In terms of face washes, this is one of the most basic I’ve used, and therefore one of the ones I appreciate the most. I don’t need bells and whistles when I’m washing my face – I just need it to the job, and do it well. And that’s exactly what the Purifying Facial Cleanser does for me: it washes away the sleepies from the night before and invigorates me for the day.

Sometimes I do like a more serious scrub on my face (usually about once or twice a week) and lately I’ve been trying out the Neutrogena Acne Foaming Scrub. I am not prone to acne in the least, but I do find I end up reaching for acne scrubs the most – perhaps as a preventative measure? Either way, my skin is being kept clear of acne and it’s getting a slightly deeper cleanse with the little scrubbies suspended within the product.

From here, there’s really two ways I can go with my skincare routine. If it’s a work day, I’ll opt to apply moisturizer and primer before going in with a full face of makeup. The Neutrogena Healthy Skin Primer comes with a built in sunscreen with 15 SPF. So for those of you that don’t like SPF in your moisturizer (I’m one of them), this is a great way to get that extra boost of skincare coverage you’ll need while commuting to the office.

I definitely apply moisturizer before I apply my primer, but I wanted to stop for a moment to appreciate this particular moisturizer. The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel with Hylauronic Acid has become one of my absolute favourite skincare products in the last year or so. I first reviewed it in April 2016 and I have been completely enamoured with it ever since. I am absolutely in LOVE with this product! This is a really slippery gel cream texture moisturizer that feels incredible on the skin. I was astonished that such a thin formula could actually keep my dry skin hydrated all winter – but it DID! Winter or summer, this moisturizer is an absolute dream on my skin and I cannot recommend it enough!

The other way I’ll take my skincare is if I’m heading out for a run or to soccer on the weekends. I don’t need the facial primer, but I DEFINITELY need sunscreen on my face and body. One of the more comfortable sunscreen formulas on the market is the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen SPF 55. It’s one of the least sticky formulas I’ve tried and leaves me with the very thinnest film possible on the skin (because let’s get real – no matter how much we want it, there isn’t a single suncreen on the market that is going to feel like you’re touching your own skin). It sinks in fast, and is water and sweat resistant – which means it’s not going to be seeping into my eyes while I’m out for a run or playing a game on a hot summer day.

And if you need to clean up quickly? Grab your Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes and give yourself a pat down. I’ll never be more grateful than when I rediscover a packet of Neutrogena wipes in my bag. Whether your hands are sticky, or your face feels greasy (or heck, even your hands from having just applied sunscreen!), these are always here to save the day.

I’ve mentioned iHerb.com before and I just wanted to make sure to reiterate a few things: they sell over 35,000 products and ship to over 160 countries.  And? Their shipping is INCREDIBLY cheap, even to Canada! For an order around $60, the shipping cost is coming out to about $9 CAD and that includes pre-paid duties when you choose to ship via DHL. You also have the option to choose $0 shipping, but you do run the risk of getting hit by Canadian customs when it clears the border. As a Canadian, I cannot STAND paying exorbitant shipping fees and iHerb ensures that I don’t.  iHerb.com is also a Google trusted store and their Customer Service team can provide support in 10 different languages.

Too Faced Peaches and Cream Launch (Press Photos & Information)

Too Faced Peaches and Cream

I’m not one to dedicate a full blog post to an upcoming product launch by a brand butttt… there’s something really exciting coming from Too Faced!

Too Faced Sweet Peach palette

As many of you know, the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette launch in April 2016 was an enormous hit for the brand. Sure, the Chocolate Bar launches set off their cocoa scented obsession, but until Sweet Peach hit, we’d seen nothing like it for the brand. The palette went out of stock so shockingly fast that the brand was left reeling and trying to figure out what to do. Once they realized what the demand was like for this palette, they went full throttle for a palette relaunch that was targeting holiday 2016. I can’t even imagine what kind of manpower they had to throw at that relaunch to get it in motion. Brands tend to work a year in advance, so I also have to wonder what projects they bumped in order to make Sweet Peach happen again.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss

So not only did the eyeshadow palette come back, but Too Faced also launched an entire Sweet Peach collection at us that included lip glosses, a face palette and their revamped Papa Don’t Peach blush. It seems like our obsession with Too Faced and peaches was neverending, and so… they went forward with Peaches and Cream.

So what is it and why is it different?

The Too Faced Peaches and Cream collection is the first time the brand is creating a line exclusively for for a retailer (Sephora, although it will be available on TooFaced.com as well). It’s also a PERMANENT range of products, so don’t get your knickers in a knot about not getting your hands on the product on launch day!

Even better? Because this is a line, and not just an individuallaunch, there will actually be seasonal launches for this range of products as well. So if you’ve got a passion for peach, you’ve got launches galore for the foreseeable future! I originally thoughg this was just a seasonal launch for the brand and I was excited. Now that I know it’s a full line, I’m OVER THE FREAKING MOON!

Set your calendars for August 28, 2017 – it’s August 31st now! – as that’s the official Sephora launch date. It’ll follow shortly thereafter to TooFaced.com on September 1, 2017.

EDIT 2017/09/24:  This is a launch post with product details below. I have since bought a lot of the collection and you can see me trying them on and reviewing them in this video:

Challenge Week: Tarte Tarteist Pro

This post is looong overdue! I’ve had a few requests to do a Challenge Week using the tarte Tarteist Pro, and while it’s taken me far too long to do it, here we have it!

Look 1

The first thing I wanted to do was go for the shades I was most drawn towards, and that was definitely a warm red eye with a pale lid.

Eyes

  1. Innocent through the crease.
  2. Whimsy also in the crease.
  3. Glam on the lid.
  4. Mod on the outer corner.
  5. Drama to deepen up the outer corner.
  6. Classic on the brow bone.

I used the Marc Jacobs Highliner in Blaquer to coat the lower lash line and smudged it out with a pencil brush covered in Mod to help make it more red. I created the wing with the ARTDECO High Precision Liner, applied the essence The False Lashes Mascara Dramatic Volume Unlimited mascara to my lashes and popped on a pair of Ardell falsies.

Face

  • Foundation: Wet n Wild Photofocus foundation in Shell Ivory
  • Bronzer: Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
  • Blush: Tarte Natural Beauty
  • Lips: Too Faced Melted Matte in Drop Dead Red

Look 2

For this one I wanted more of a golden look that most people seem to gravitate towards during the summer months.

Eyes

  1. Bold through the crease.
  2. No Filter through the crease.
  3. Ethereal on the lid.
  4. Drama on the outer corner
  5. Vamp in the outer v.
  6. Classic on the brow bone

I created the wing with Physicians Formula Eye Booster and applied Revlon’s Mega Multiplier mascara to my lashes. I’ve also popped on a pair of KISS Poise lashes.

Face

  • Foundation: Too Faced Born This Way in Porcelain
  • Bronzer: Tarte Park Avenue Princess
  • Blush: tarte Darling blush
  • Highlighter: Tarte Spellbound Glow
  • Lipstick: Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect

Look 3

For this look, I was headed out to a concert and didn’t have a whole lot of time to get ready. While I LIKE the look of a single colour on the eye, I don’t often opt for it because I feel like I’m not playing with my makeup enough. However, for needing to get out the door fast? It’s a winner!

Eyes

  1. Bold through the crease.
  2. Trendy all over the entire lid.
  3. Vamp to deepen up the outer corner.
  4. Ethereal on the inner corner.
  5. Classic on the brow bone.

I applied Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint mascara to my lashes.

Face

  • Foundation: Too Faced Born This Way foundation in Porcelain
  • Bronzer: NYC Sun n Bronze in Fire Island Tan
  • Charlotte Tilbury Chic to Cheek blush in Love is the Drug
  • Highlighter: tarte Spellbound Glow
  • Lips: Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips in Kim KW

Look 4

I was trying to pull back and go for an easy/simple eye look… but uh… yeah. This is as easy as I get!

Eyes

  1. Chic through the crease.
  2. Glam on the lid.
  3. Whimsy outer corner and crease.
  4. Classic on the brow bone.

I created the wing with Physicians Formula Eye Booster in Ultra Black and applied tarte’s Tarteist Lash Paint mascara to my lashes.

Face

  • Foundation: Too Faced Born This Way in Porcelain mixed with Illamasqua Skin Base in 6.5 (which I quickly discovered is EXACTLY the same shade!)
  • Bronzer: NYC Sun n Bronze in Fire Island Tan
  • Blush: NYX Soft Flush Ombre Blush
  • Highlighter: Tarte Spellbound
  • Lips: Maybelline Shocking Coral

Look 5

And to round it all out: my absolute favourite look I came up with. I stuck with matte and raspberry shades and it made the perfect eye look!

Eyes

  1. Chic through the crease.
  2. Mod on the outer half of the lid and pulled through the crease.
  3. Vintage on the inner half of the lid.
  4. Drama to deepen up the outer corner.
  5. Classic on the brow bone.

I created the wing with Physicians Formula Eye Booster in Ultra Black and applied tarte’s Tarteist Lash Paint mascara to my lashes.l/4621/

Face

  • Foundation: Too Faced Born This Way foundation in Porcelain
  • Bronzer: NYC Sun n Bronze in Fire Island Tan
  • Blush: NARS x Charlotte Gainsbourg Multiple Tint in Jeanette
  • Highlighter: tarte Spellbound Glow
  • Lips: tarte Color Splash Lipstick in Daiquiri

And there we have it! Hope you enjoyed all five looks using the tarte Tarteist Pro palette!
