Swatch Sunday: Cargo Eye Contour Eye Shadow Palette 02

The Cargo Eye Contour Eye Shadow Palettes are a relatively new offering by the brand and they come in two shades: 01 (more of a purple toned palette) and 02 (more of a blue toned palette).

For this post I’ll be swatching the 02 palette!

I would venture to say these are a lightly pigmented palette and do not build up very much on the eyes, even with primer. If you want something soft and subtle with your eyeshadow, this is the kind of palette you want. If you want more bang, this one isn’t for you!

Skincare Saturday: Korres Castanea Arcadia Review

I’ve had such a backlog of skincare products to try out that I’ve actually had this set since August! However, this is one of the most interesting items I’ve seen in skincare recently: the Korres Castanea Arcadia is centered around utilizing Arcadian Chestnut tree extract!
Taken from the leaves of the chesnut tree, Lupeol is a powerful natural ingredient that contains incredible antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin-regenerative properties, but has never before been used as an active ingredient in cosmetics before. KORRES developed an innovative molecule known as HALupeol, which encases pure Lupeol in a hyaluronic acid shell. This new molecule creates a special system that allows the active to penetrate the skin, offerring targeted wrinkle repair. Over time, you’ll see enhanced skin elasticity, resilience and youthfulness.

I’ve been trying out the Wrinkle Rewind Night Cream as well as the Eye Cream (but we already know how I feel about eye creams…) as the air gets dryer here in Toronto. I’ve been using these two products together at night to help boost up the moisture in my skin. While I can’t say I’ve noticed any wrinkle reduction (I don’t really have a ton to begin with), the very first I used this overnight, I woke up the next morning with skin feeling saturated with hydrating. My skin felt like it was plumped up instead of feeling thin and dry! I’ve continued to use this as repair cream overnight whenever my skin felt dry (particularly from foundation application) and I have loved how much skin has felt every morning after!
The product does smell enticing too – not like chesnuts, but lightly sweet, slightly potpourri. From what I noticed, the face cream does have more scent than the eye cream, but neither is overpowering. Anyway, all in all, I’m kind of enchanted by the fact this uses chestnuts in the formula – feels very seasonally appropriate right now!
Let me know if you’ve tried out Korres’ Castanea Arcadia range and what you’ve thought of it!

Sudio Vasa BLÅ Earphones Review

I’ve got a bit of a different post for you! I was originally going to include this item in my gift guide, but I loved them so much I thought they deserved their own post!
Sudio is a completely new-to-me brand out of Sweden that manufactures quality head and earphones (wired and wireless). I was recently approached about trying out a pair of their earphones and I was definitely intrigued – I had never tried a pair of wireless earphones and wanted to see how I would feel about them!

“Sudio represents elegant products with studio quality sound and exquisite minimalistic design. Our customers should be proud to wear and use our products. We aim for perfection in all aspects of our customer service and will always strive to give you an amazing experience with our brand.”
Sudio asked me if I’d like to try out their Vasa BLÅ earphones which come in a variety of colour options. I opted for the white cord with rose gold accents because I thought it looked the prettiest… and let me just say… these earphones are elegant AF!

Inside the packaging (not only gorgeous, but also sturdy!), you’ll find a manual, a quick start guide (so handy – who reads manuals anyway?), your earphones, a small USB connector (to charge your headset), five sets of ear plug sizes, as well as a little pouch to store everything.

Before I tested these out, I made sure to charge my earphones via my computer’s USB port. Super easy – just pop open the small tab on the earphones, insert the connector into the slot and then plug them into your computer. The Vasa BLÅ earphones are a wireless set that requires Bluetooth in order to make a connection (my iPod nano is seriously out of date, so I had to test this with my phone). Using the quick start guide I got connected right away (and since I never use Bluetooth, I was pretty impressed with how easy it was).

So how do they work and feel? In a word… incredible. These are INCREDIBLY soundproof. If you want something to block out the noise of the world around you, this is the way to go! I’m also pretty terrible at noticing differences in audio quality across different sound systems, but I can DEFINITELY discern a huge difference between this pair of earphones when compared to whatever random shitty brand I bought for some low cost price.
And wireless? Guys, why have I never gotten on this bandwagon? IT IS SO FREEING. Walking around without cords dangling from my ears and pockets? Such a nice feeling. I charged the set once and then proceeded to wear it to and from work on my usual 30 minute walking commute and I was in love! I haven’t had to recharge the set yet and I’ve worn it for about 15 hours in total. Super, super pleased.
If you’d like to check out Sudio for yourself, please visit their website at www.sudiosweden.com. Although I tried out the Vasa BLÅ pair ($140 CAD), they do have other varieties as well. If you decide you’d like to make a purchase, feel free to use the code “makeupyourmind” to get 15% off. (This is a strict discount code to save you money – I make nothing off of it!) Sudio also has free gift wrapping and express shipping until December 18, 2016!
