Four Year Blog Anniversary + Giveaway!

Sometimes I really wonder where the heck the time goes… because all of a sudden I’m hitting my fourth year blogging and I’m just sitting here going “what on earth have I done in those four years???”

But I  can actually answer that question! To date, I’ve published 920 blog posts (holy crap!) and created 183 videos (seriously??). It’s absolutely wild to think about just how much content that is. At this point in time I’m convinced that I’ve written more for this blog than I ever did in all of my combined years of essay writing in school.

I’m proud of the content I’ve created and I’m so happy that I still feel passionately about creating it. You never know when a passion of yours may die out, but I’m still chugging along happily and I’m glad you guys are still hanging around to read or watch it!

As I’ve done for the last few years, I wanted to give away an eyeshadow palette that I’ve really been enjoying this year. A few people may be surprised by this, but I think the palette that has impressed me the most this year has to be the tarte Make Believe In Yourself palette. I was originally a little bit on the fence about picking up this palette since it’s got a heck of a lot of shimmery shades in it… But in the end, I’m so glad I bought it because I’ve gone back to this eyeshadow palette so many times this year! So I’m sharing the love and I hope whoever wins this loves it just as much as I do! (I’m also throwing in the highly coveted tarte Magic Wand brush set because they’re just so freaking pretty!)

I’m reposting this photo (above) just in case you didn’t know what the inside of the palette looked like. This is my palette from my swatch post back in May, and the palette is decidedly less pristine than that now!

  1. Hi Chelle! How are you? Congratulations on this fourth anniversary! I’m from Chile, but I will soon go to Spain to visit relatives who live there! I’m very excited about that🤗❤️. Greetings and good luck to all! love the Tarte products!!! 😍😍🍀🙋🏻🤞🏼

  2. I am from Canada! My plans for the day include studying for a test tomorrow. As Paulina said, I also love the Tarte products. I think the bronzes are perfect for blue eyes.

  3. Waving from Ottawa ! Congrats on this cool milestone! I really enjoy your posts and videos! Did you know they are building a skating rink on Parliament Hill this December! You should check it out 🙂

    1. Hey Joy! I didn’t know you were from Ottawa! That’s my hometown! I’m sooo nostalgic for Ottawa lately – it was a wonderful place to grow up in!
I had no idea they were building a skating rink around Parliament Hill! On the front lawn I guess? I’m not back there for Christmas (we’re going to Wisconsin to see my husband’s family), but maybe I’ll plan a trip before the winter is over!

      1. yes! (Kanata actually)… I think the skating surface will be cool on the east lawn of Parliament Hill, but just til Dec 31 🙂

        1. Oh noooo! Shoot, I don’t think I’ll be back by then. That being said, the winters aren’t as cold as they have been in the past (compared to when I grew up) so I’m not sure they’d even be able to get a fully frozen over rink by then? I know they keep moving back the opening of the canal… into January usually now isn’t it?
My parents live in what used to be Nepean. My friends and I spent a decent amount of time going to that Walmart in Kanata and to the AMC Theatre out there. Although I think it’s been renamed hasn’t it?

          1. you’re right about the weather – we never know what we’ll get – they probably have a way to keep it frozen… yes, now it’s a Landmark Theatre, and there is lots of new growth — like the Tanger Outlets! It’s awesome 🙂

  4. HI CHELLE.

My plans today are to do a ton of work 🙁 So far behind but the wonderful thing is that Julie is visiting this week. so no matter how stressful the week is otherwise, that’s wonderful!

    1. HI ZOE!
      Barf, what kind of work?
And yay for Julie visiting soon! Look at all these people going out to the boondocks to hang out with you! hahah
Hope you guys have a great time and TAKE PLENTY OF PICTURES!

    1. Oh cool! I always wonder if people find my YouTube channel first, or my blog. Thanks for letting me know!
And I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying the palette – I used it this morning! 😀

  5. I’m from Canada, and actually I noticed you live in Toronto, I actually live not too far from there, today I just plan to go for a walk and take it easy. Happy 4 year anniversary to your blog.

    1. Oh cool! Yeah I live right downtown in Toronto. 🙂
I hope your walk is nice – it’s super brisk out there which I personally find quite refreshing!

      1. I live in Oakville, nice quiet little town since I was born, and I try to go for a walk everyday. I don’t usually come to downtown TO very often unless I’m going to a concert or a convention like Fan Expo. But if I am ever in Toronto some other time, and I see you, I’ll say hi!

        1. I’ve spent a wee amount of time in Oakville! (Actually applied to Sheridan there a long time ago, but wasn’t accepted.) And absolutely – if you spot me – definitely say hi!

  6. I’m Elena, from Spain. You are great, giveaway or not, it’s a pleasure following you since I discovered we shared common passions. I wish you the best in this journey! 😉

    1. I think I follow your IG account right? I always LOVE your eyeshadow looks! You’ve inspired me more than once with some of the gorgeous colour combinations you’ve done!

        1. Oh please! You’ve got a heck of a lot more talent than I do! I’m always in awe of your blending!! I’ve screenshotted a few of your looks so I could recreate them at some point. 🙂

    1. Ohhh Romnia! I’ve always wanted to visit. My friend and I almost picked there a few years ago but we ended up in the Czech Republic instead. One day I’ll visit!

  7. Congratulations on 4 years! You create great content and I hope you continue to do so! I’ve enjoyed following your youtube channel, and I will definitely keep on following! Oh, a subscriber from Alberta here 🙂

    1. Definitely still going to be chugging along over here! I’d kind of slacked on the blog content since we moved into the condo (kept the videos going though thankfully), but I’m just now getting right back into it! It feels nice to be back on track!

  8. Happy Blogversary! I’m new to following you-I see some videos I will be viewing on your youtube channel today! Today is a sick day for me. Wishing you health!

  9. Happy 4th blogiversary Chelle! You’re right, that’s a LOT of content! I’ll have to go back and watch some more of your videos. Have a great week and thanks for the opportunity to win this amazing tarte prize!

  10. Happy 4th Blogaversary!!!! I am from Canada. I have been dealing with a bad cold which it seems lots of people are putting up with right now. It has been a gorgeous fall here so far.

  11. Hi, congratulations on the 4 years, time does fly by fast. I live in Montreal and I love when you show us some Canadian makeup! Have a great day.

    1. Awww you’re sweet! And please, there’s so many levels of frigging eyeshadow achievement. I look at other people and I’m like “why can’t I do THAT???”

    1. I guess it feels like old hat now? Around the 2-3 year mark I still felt like a newbie on the block. Now I definitely feel like one of the older hags in the blogging world. haha

  12. Congratulations on 4 years!!! I’m from Toronto and looking forward to retirement in 2019 and this Tarte pallet is gorgeous!!!

  13. Hi Chelle,
Happy blog anniversary! I’m from Canada and have been a long time follower of yours!
I’m engaged and have been considering doing my own makeup for my wedding. Your makeup tutorials and reviews are super helpful. Over the next few months I’ll be looking to build up my makeup collection so that I can practice and be comfortable with the products I’ll use for my wedding day. If you have any specific recommendations for makeup that looks great for photos and lasts all day, I’d love to hear them.

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Cara! Congrats on your upcoming wedding – that’s really exciting!
Honestly, for my own wedding, I didn’t want the hassle of doing my own makeup so I just went to a MAC store to have it done. The artist there did a great job and listened to what I had to say. I’d say it lasted the whole day, aside from the lipstick/lipgloss which I ended up purchasing so I could touch it up every now and then anyway.

  14. Hey dear.. That’s a lot of blog posts… Congrats on the success dear.. I am from India and am a mother of a cute 3 year old girl. I am on the hunt for a job now as my daughter just started school. love the giveaway. Hope to win.

  15. Hey Chelle!!! Congratulations on hitting four years soo exciting! I always love reading/watching your opinions on products because you are so real and don’t BS around!
I’m located in Calgary but I am an east coast girl originally from Nova Scotia.

    1. Thanks so much Michelle! I really, really do not have time for BS… it’s too exhausting trying to beat around the bush! So I’m so glad you appreciate that!
What made you move to Calgary? I’ve been to NS, but haven’t delved further west than Ontario which is honestly kind of shameful.

      1. Moved here for work like almost all other east coasters. I will say though I am not bitter about it like some are! I do really enjoy living here, but honestly my dream location to live in Canada is Toronto. I love it there and plan a trip there at least once a year!

  16. Love your videos and blog posts! I’m in Calgary and my plans for the day are to Netflix and Chill on the couch while feeding my new baby boy (all the time…)

      1. Thanks, he’s the sweetiest. I totally binge watched my way through iZombie recently. I was skeptical at first, but loved it. Also ❤️The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Hilarious!

    1. Oh Renee, I’m well versed in your blog content! You put out so much content – I’m always so impressed with your dedication! I didn’t know you were in Calgary though!

  17. Congratulations non your anniversary! Times flies when you’re having fun right! Wishing you many more years of beauty joy!! Thank for the chance to win!

  18. I am a psychiatrist but I am also a beauty lover ! I love makeup and everything that is beauty related. I love reading makeup product reviews and watch makeup tutorials. I also love animals, especially dogs. And otters. I am perfectionist, I love to plan, I love to travel, i love the sea. I love to love I guess ! Thank you for the chance, keep doing what you love and happy blogiversary ! Big hugs an enormous positive vibes !

    1. Duuuuude I’m OBSESSED with otters! I’ve been trying to get out to one of those reserves where you swim with otters since that’d be a dream come true! No luck thus far though… they’re always booked up!
Thanks so much for telling me about yourself!

  19. Hi Chelle. Congrats on your 4th anniversary. I live in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. I have been an Island girl all my life. Today the hubs and I are decorating for Halloween. We recently moved to a area which has lots of kids so we are going full tilt. I loveeeeeeeee Halloween. 😀

    1. It’s such a shame, but I’ve never been out to Vancouver. Seems ridiculous to be 34 years old and have never been to the other side of the country! One day I’ll make it out there!
I love that you’re decorating for Halloween! Definitely my favourite season! 😀

  20. Hi! I am from Manitoba and my plans for the day WERE to possibly go for a hike (Im a medical worker so today is my ‘weekend’) but it is currently 4c soooo maybe my fall hiking days are over for the year!

    1. You could probably bundle up and still be able to hike… although it really depends on the wind. Nothing worse than a biting cold wind when it’s close to freezing!!

  21. I’m a landed immigrant, born on an armybase hospital in Germany, 52 yrs ago. My mother is German (She’s lived in Canada longer then she lived in Germany and still has her accent) and my father was a Canadian soldier. I live in bitter cold Sk, work for a living and have two grown children who have moved to other provinces to live (Either I did it right or they dislike me that much lOL)

    1. Hah, you did the right thing! My parents are in Ottawa and my brother moved to Europe (was in France, now he’s in the Netherlands) and I moved to Toronto! Do you speak German as well?

      1. I knew the language a bit but lost it. My daughter went there for a month with my mom (She’s now got the travel bug and probably has been more places in the world then I have)

  22. Congratulations on your 4th anniversary. Thats quite a milestone. I live in Ontario and love to try new things

  23. I’m from Ontario, Canada. Happily married 26 years. I plan on doing errands with my husband and then later taking the dogs to the park on this last Sunday in October 2017.

  24. I’m from the US. I’ve been having a lot of confidence issues for the past few years and getting back into makeup has helped.
My plans for tomorrow are most likely checking the tracking number every five minutes on the last minute Ulta order I made for Halloween.
