Swatch Sunday: Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons

My love for the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palettes knows no bounds. I actually got up at 4 am on launch day to order this (it’s a good thing I did, the palette actually sold out on that day!) and then gritted my teeth as it took over a WEEK to get to me.

Makeup addict status? In full effect.

Say hello to the third installment in the chocolate palette lineup; the Chocolate Bon Bons palette (I was already lusting over sneak peeks back in SEPTEMBER!). While the packaging of the other palettes resembled a chocolate bar, this one is more… uh… Barbie-themed. (I’m not a fan of the pink packaging as I find it far too girly for my own tastes.)

Packaging aside, while I’m obsessed with the Too Faced chocolate line up, I wasn’t overly enthused by the shades I saw in previews for the palette. However… now that I own it, I take it all back. While it is “yet another neutral palette”, there are some unbelievable colours in here. Cafe Au Lait has stolen my heart. As has Molasses Chip (holy pigmentation). Bordeaux is the kind of shade that makes my heart swoon.

  1. Yeah that packaging…I honestly might have been tempted to finally get one but it’s awful. I also already have that bright pink from TF. However there are some gorgeous shades and the quality seems awesome. I really love Malted and Black Currant.

I also feel like I’m always the one pointing out mistakes in peoples’ posts (SORRY) but you have Malted in there twice (once labelled as Molasses Chip). I JUST HAVE AN EYE FOR DETAIL.

      1. HI NATALIE. Haha yes I was thinking of you. I was like, everyone is going to think I go around correcting people…but also I just did. ONLY TO PEOPLE I LOVE. I’ve also done this to Chelle’s swatch posts before (I know it’s easy to lose track when you have 16 swatches to post). I’m just waiting for all the comments on my posts haha I definitely leave the occasional typo in!

    1. I swear that bright pink is in most of their palettes, sometimes under a different name. I wish the name had been a bit better suited to this palette. Satin Sheets? Totally Fetch? THOSE ARE NOT BON BONS.

Thanks for pointing it out! Fixed it! 🙂

    1. Well that’s true – I hadn’t thought of that. Although I think I would’ve gone with purple over pink…

It does smell, but not as intensely as the others. xSparkage made that comment in a video but she said it was like 25% strength of the others. I don’t agree with that, but it is somewhat reduced. I love the scent so I’m a bit sad, but hey, if some people can’t use it because they think it stinks, maybe it’s a good idea to reduce the cocoa scent.

  2. i actually really like all these colors but i know i have them seperately elsewhere (but i would love to borrow this from someone just to give it a try). i LOVE the colors of the matte shades. i def have those for sure and those colors are perfect!!

    1. Yeah I’m sure I have the bulk of these colours in different palettes… just not packaged all together! I’m so happy that Too Faced adds a lot of mattes to their palettes. It makes for much more cohesive looks!

    1. It does smell like chocolate. Like Nesquik, really. This one is a bit more muted than the other Chocolate Bar palettes, but it still smells delicious!

  3. AHhh! Everything is sooo pretty! If only I could swap out some of the shades from this palette for some of the shades I loved in their first chocolate bar palette! I usually couldn’t care for mattes but I love the mattes in this palette and the heart shaped pans totally have me on my knees!

    1. I hear you. As a line of palettes gets more and more expansive, sometimes it’d be nice to pop out the shades you like and incorporate them into another palette!

  4. I really did not like this palette at first, but the more I see the more I like!! Almond Truffle and Totally Fetch, are .. totally fetch!!

    1. It took me a while – I absolutely detest the packaging. Almond Truffle has been one of my absolute go-tos while using this palette for sure. And Molasses Chip is so damn pretty!

  5. Would you prefer this to chololate bar or semi sweet palette (i remember that you like it more!). I’m thinking about buying one, but can’t really decide. If only this purple would be more purple than brown!

    1. I definitely prefer the semi-sweet one because the shades are more to my liking. And yeah, the purple in this isn’t quite as purple as the shade in the first chocolate bar. They do make it hard when they keep coming out with new iterations don’t they??
