Challenge Week – Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix

201511_katvondmividalocaremix1

As far as I’m concerned, this Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix palette was made for me. I’ve long lamented the fact that it’s near impossible to bring one of my bright eyeshadow palettes on vacation because they just never come with the bare necessities that comprise a makeup look. You know… the blending colour. The brow bone colour. A black to deepen things. I can’t think of a single palette I own (and uh… I’ve got a lot) that has both brights and neutrals. This palette is heaven-sent!

Enough blabbing, here’s five looks I came up with while using this palette! (Sidenote: I often use NYX‘s Milk as a base because that’s just something I do to with vibrant colours to amp them up even more.)

I don’t think I had a theme for this one really. Maybe I was trying to match my shirt colour a bit?

Julie of Swatch and Review saved the day for me with this look (thank you!!). I wore it to a soccer banquet and hadn’t been able to take photos before the sun went down (my neverending saga of not having proper studio lights…), but since I went to her place later on that evening she was super sweet and let me use her studio lights with my smaller camera. (And in hindsight, wow lights without awkward shadows. I NEED TO GET SOME.)

Of course, I took advantage of snuggling her cat Kurt. <3

I need to trust myself more with matching bright/vibrant eyeshadows with colourful lips. I almost always think I look like a fool in the mirror, but when I look at the photos, I’m so pleased with how it turns out!

You knew this one was coming – a rainbow look! I opted to do what I’d call an inverted rainbow – usually I start with the red in the inner corner and work out to a purple on the outer corner but this time I did it in reverse and put the red through the crease.

  1. Muse on the inner corner.
  2. Echo
  3. Synth
  4. Misfit

I created the wing with MAC‘s Blacktrack fluidline and applied Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.

  1. YES!!!! This is the post that I was waiting for! (: Lovely looks…I can’t wait to re-create some of them.

    1. Yay! I’m so glad you’re happy to see this post! I’m kind of mad at myself that it took me so long to get posted – I just got into serious palette backlog and was like “omgggggg I need to use this one!!!”

Hands down my favourite palette now.

    1. I’m so glad you can get your hands on it!! I want to see what you come up with using the shadows and then I can draw even more inspiration from you!

    1. Lemmy’s a great shade, but I don’t find it especially different from MAC’s Humid or Inglot’s Pearl 418 (I think that’s the number). Still though… super pigmented!

        1. lol it happens! We’ve got so many products that it’s hard to keep track of. I just really remembered Humid because I ran through an entire pan of it.

    1. And rightfully so – he’s a star!

Frankly, I’m just so impressed with the studio lights you have. Even with my shittyass hand held camera I still got well lit photos.

  2. YES i ‘ve been waiting for this post and it doesn’t disappoint. honestly sometimes i want to get a palette and just copy all the looks you did. it makes my life so much easier. except for the spending on the palette…lol

i esp love the green lid and rust/orange inner corner look. the color contrast is so interesting!

    1. Yeah that one was a fluke. I went to work without the lower lash line colour and a totally different (nude) lip colour. But when I got home I realized the look as a whole was wayyyy too boring to put up, so I just started whacking some more colours on. Sometimes it works out well!

I want to see recreations! You could totally do it just with similar colours from other brands if need be.
